Tall Timber Tech: The Future of Wind Energy in Sweden
A groundbreaking project “Wind of Change” is underway, setting the stage for a monumental shift in wind turbine technology. Modvion, a wood technology company, is spearheading the construction of the world’s tallest wooden wind turbine tower, reaching an impressive height of 105 meters.
This ambitious endeavor marks Modvion’s first commercial installation, a collaboration with energy company Varberg Energi, situated in the municipality of Skara, Sweden. What sets this project apart is not just its remarkable height, but the innovative marriage of Modvion’s wooden tower technology with a 2-megawatt turbine from Danish wind turbine manufacturer, Vestas.
With the inclusion of the turbine blades, the turbine’s total height will soar to 150 meters. The project showcases the pioneering spirit of the renewable energy sector as it continues to evolve and find sustainable solutions to combat climate change.

As the world grapples with the challenges of climate change and the need to reduce carbon emissions Sweden’s Wind of Change project highlights the nation’s dedication to sustainable energy solutions. This endeavor reinforces the belief that by pushing the boundaries of wind energy technology we can transition towards a cleaner greener and more sustainable future.
This project serves as a beacon of hope and a testament to human ingenuity in the pursuit of a more environmentally responsible and sustainable world.
