Marc Quinn’s New Exhibition “Light into Life” at Kew Gardens
Marc Quinn’s new art exhibition inspired by nature and science “Light into Life” is now open at Kew Gardens until Sunday, 29 September 2024. The contemporary artist presents a major exhibition that features monumental outdoor sculptures and works in the Shirley Sherwood Gallery of Botanical Art. This unique exhibition is a collaboration with Kew’s scientists and horticulturists, focusing on the intricate relationship between people and plants.

The exhibition includes new works such as large-scale sculptures based on significant plants and a bronze bonsai sculpture displayed in the Temperate House. Additionally, sculptural portraits of palm leaves in the Palm House will highlight the essential role of trees in daily survival. “Light into Life” delves into humanity’s complex relationship with nature, showcasing both new and existing artworks. Notable pieces include Forecourt Herbarium, a reinterpretation of Kew’s collection of preserved plant specimens, and Human Nature, a calla lily bouquet created using frozen animal blood. The exhibition also features a selection of works from The Shirley Sherwood Collection and Marc Quinn’s drawings.
Marc Quinn emphasizes the importance of nature in his work, stating, “As humans, we interact and exist within our environments as part of nature. Collaborating with Kew has underlined the integral role of the natural world in my practice.”
“Marc Quinn expertly marries innovation and beauty. Kew Gardens offers the perfect backdrop for this spectacular exhibition.”
