The Role: Intern Digital Reporter 

A Passion for and knowledge of design would be essential

The role will entail:

  • Sourcing and writing daily news
  • Research daily events
  • Speaking to and interviewing designers, artist, creatives 
  • Supporting all content via our social media
  • Writing regular features across all channels on the site
  • Attending design related events and parties during LDF including: showroom openings, product launches, art shows, design events, visiting architecture studios, technology events, creative events, fashion shows, parties etc etc  (this role will involve occasional flexible working hours)

Design Exchange is a rapidly growing media company seeking a creative thinking people to work with us to help set up and run new offices throughout the UK and Europe.

The right person will report directly to the founder of Design Exchange, and will be responsible for securing print, and digital advertising, plus bespoke sponsorships and membership revenue.  Help build a small sales team working within your area. The job requires maintaining and building lasting and meaningful relationships with clients across architecture, design, art, technology, digital media, fashion and lifestyle businesses. Alongside developing sales for the magazine, the person will be responsible for seeking out and securing other creative opportunities for the business.

Essential skills and experience

  • At least three years experience of working in a sales role for events or  magazines
  • Experience in selling across both print and online
  • Excellent professional relationships
  • Great verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of writing sales reports and tracking progress through the reports
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Experience of working on bespoke projects for clients
  • Excellent contacts with relevant media agencies

Responsibilities of the role

  • Be a creative thinker, thinking up new ways to bring revenue into the company
  • Keeping track of competitors in order to analyse the market
  • Keeping up to date with trade press and observing trends and developments both in print and digital which will have an impact on media planning
  • Represent the brand at relevant industry events to promote the magazine /network and build lasting relationships
  • Respond to client briefs, write proposals, prepare budgets and attend presentations as required
  • Writing sales reports and extracting data in order to create sales forecasts

The successful candidate(s) will have a proven track record in sales with an outgoing nature and an enthusiasm for culture and design. They will be able to cope with the pressurised environment of the evolving media industry, managing numerous working relationships and juggling deadlines. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with several years of sales experience to join a young and growing Digital /Publishing network.
