Yang Liu is recognised for her communication design work, previous books include Man meets Woman and East meets West published by TASCHEN. The third instalment, Today meets Yesterday pictures the transformations of our evolving world.
The leading designer takes us on a time travel with this new book, presenting how we used to live compared to how we live today via pictogram pairings. Liu is specifically known for her sense of observation exposed in her designs. By juxtaposing the past and the present, the designer makes the reader more conscious of the changes we face.
While technology is a recurring factor of social change outline in her book, Yang Liu talks about the evolution of or perceptions concerning food waste, collectivism and networking. She portrays the issues via our daily routine.
Originally from Beijing, the designer inspiration comes from around the world as she worked in Singapore, Berlin, London and New York.
