Continuing Design Exchange’s series of sending influential creatives to the world’s top design events, Rock Galpin spent a week searching Milan for the most interesting furniture and objects the city had to offer.

Rock founded the design studio Rock Galpin Limited in 2005 after setting up the design and supply company Studio Orange in 1995 after a few years in professional practice. He specialises in furniture and product design, with additional areas in graphics/branding and interior design where his work has been exhibited in over 40 exhibitions worldwide.

Ventura Lambrate:

An assortment of designer/designer makers, From flour and water bowls, crystal dipped chandeliers, woven die stamped lights,  recycled tongue in cheek furniture, from rattan chairs, coin and dollar bill tables, exhaust skateboards, DIY birth control kits, Robot ceramicists and socket mules.

Rock is currently working specifically on new furniture collections and pieces in the areas of hospitality and office furniture with an exciting new collection embedding technology in soft seating for Frem Group, launching at Clerkenwell Design Week, in May 24-26th, 2016 and another collection launching in September for Connection Seating at London Design Festival.

Clients have including; ARAM, The British Council, Established & Sons, Christopher Wray, Heals, Designers Guild, Frem, Boss Design, Diageo, Bacardi Global Brands, Bartle Bogle & Hegerty, Saatchi & Saatchi and Channel 4.

Having given numerous lectures at Bloombergs, Domus Academy and Chartered Society of Designers he has been a design judge for the Restaurant & Design Awards, 100% Design and Satelliet Design Award and won a number of awards himself including The Laurent Perrier Design Award in 2006.

In addition Rock has also been teaching part time as an Associate Lecturer at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design at University of The Arts London on the BA Product Design and MA Industrial Design courses since 1995.
