Starwood Hotels Group- Owner Developer Experience

Jump studios were commissioned to transform the interiors of the ground and first floors of the New Corporate Headquarters Stamford, Connecticut for the Starwood Hotel Group . Its aim was to showcase a portfolio of each of their nine successful hotels and services in an array of Client facing receptions, galleries and presentation suites. Their brief was to create a range of sequential spaces for Starwood to promote, exhibit and lecture about their hotels and services.

Jump studios had the uncommon task of transforming a relatively new office building into more by creating a contemporary, diverse and immersive experience where visitors can feel they have been transported to the exotic locations and lavish hotels that Starwood promote. They were also given the task of creating a branded journey through various spaces that captivates visitors, employees, partners and suppliers alike by creating multifaceted spaces and nooks where people could learn about the Starwood Hotel Group.

Inspired by origami patterns Jump Studios have developed consistent movements throughout the building by incorporating folded architecture, in everything from the tables and desks to walls and roof hangings. As you enter the reception area the Starwood logo has been abstracted and hangs above in the form of  a suspended star sculpture.

The sculpture, mainly white in colour sets the tone throughout the building, its geometric shapes spreading throughout the building, most obviously where the sculpture is complimented by triangular graphic wall panels along the journey up the stairs.  Within the mostly white sculpture there are flecks of dark wood, linking the upper spaces with the floors and furniture, which are mostly dark timber.

The main lounge, gallery and bar area lead on from the reception upstairs where the space opens up into a large social area reminiscent of a comfortable and relaxing hotel lounge. It boasts huge leather banquette sofas and a large drinks bar backed by a gilded tiled wall washed in indirect light.

Within the lounge the space is flanked by massive 20m long storytelling walls and the “drawer gallery”, both showcasing the Starwood Hotel Groups work.
