The original 925 sq ft home was relocated in 1920 to its current location, a few blocks from the Pacific Ocean in Santa Monica.  The exterior of the residence remains relatively true to form, preserving most of its inherent single story bungalow style street presence.  Its modest appearance doesn’t do justice to the work carried out by bittoni architects as its true beauty lies within the attention to detail, none the less it is still a beautiful building.

The interior has been fully renovated to create a streamline connection between each interior space and the rear yard.

A bulthaupe galley kitchen provides the main connection between the original home and the 2-story rear addition. The new terraced living and dining room open directly to the outdoors while the master suite above simultaneously opens to a deck and the Pacific Ocean beyond.

The interior is modern and homely, simplistic in style with all of the modern home comforts. The garden area has also been redesigned in a modern fashion. Joining the two is a series of bespoke infinity stairs, in Dark wood bringing the inside out.

The Downstairs is kept relatively open plan, sharing the light from the glass walled extension in every space. Light wood, polished concrete and slate clad the floors, breaking up the areas without harsh walls.

Overall the space is modest and comfortable with the right balance of style. Its classic and minimalistic design becomes a dwelling suitable for a family, renovating this building back to its true purpose as a home. Screen Shot 2014-11-15 at 10.38.47
